COURSE DESCRIPTIONS 

 AMERICAN HISTORY AND WORLD HISTORY

American and Arizona History: The aim of this course is to develop an appreciation of the social, cultural, political, and economic heritage of our nation and Arizona. Included is an examination of America's emergence as a pluralistic and multi-dimensional society, democratic system, and world power. emphasis will be placed upon the modern era coupled with the appropriate comparisons to earlier periods. 

World History: The aim of this course is to create an understanding and appreciation of the cultural and political heritage of the past and its impact on the present. Emphasis is placed upon the development of human values as well as an analysis of historical events.

Sociology: is an elective class at Coronado. Students will develop an understanding of the  scientific study of human social relations or group life. Sociologists examine the ways in which social structures and institutions—such as class, family, community, and power—and social problems—such as crime and abuse—influence society.

Psychology: is an elective course at Coronado.  In this class, we address several various topics, including the history of psychology, the human mind, dream interpretation, personality, gender roles, famous psychologists & their theories, and much much more.  This class is highly academic while enforcing public speaking, group work and self reflection.
