Your project should include the following parts:

Your DNA model must be made from recycled items and you may not spend more than $5 on your model.

This model must be very sturdy and have your name, hour, and number somewhere on the project.  If knocked over, the model should stay in one piece.

Your model must use a different item for each part of the DNA model.  There should be the following items represented in the model:  deoxyribose, phosphate group, adenine, thymine, cytosine, guanine, and the hydrogen bonds.  The model must be at least 30 centimeters tall.  Your model must include a key that identifies each of the parts.

Model accuracy

All parts are present in the correct places; phosphate connects the sugars and one base is attached to each sugar; the bases are held together by hydrogen bonds.

All parts are present but the design has some inaccuracies.

Parts are present, but perhaps not all of them; design is poor.

Model key

A typed key with examples is provided for all the structures.

A written key is provided.

An incomplete key is provided.

Model sturdiness...

The ability to withstand the test of time.

Model is sturdy and is built to last!

Model is moderately sturdy, but could be destroyed.

Model is easily destroyed!

Model creativity

Fabulous!  Lots of effort is shown!

Good job.  Effort was given.

Missed the boat!  Effort is lacking!
