Biology I & IH 1st Quarter In-Class Project

Careers in Biology

Your group will be given four of the following careers:

Your job is to research the following about the four careers you were given:

• What does the job entail?
• What do they do?
What type of schooling is required? How much schooling is needed?
• What is the salary of the job?
• What kind of contribution do these individuals in these fields give to the world?
• Would you consider any of these careers for you in the future? Why or why not?

After you have completed the research on these careers, you and your group are required to create a “Talking Box” that describes the five pieces of information that you researched about each of the four careers given to you.

Talking Box instructions:

• One member from each group must bring in a box.
• The box must be covered with butcher paper.
• Each group member is assigned one side of the box to display their research (visually, written, drawn, etc.).
• The top of the box must be decorated with a slogan or phrase that represents each of the four topics on the box.
• The bottom of the box should have all team members' names and their chosen career.

Group presentation instructions:

• Each group member is responsible to teach their fellow group members about their topic.
• On presentation day I will roll a dice to determine who presents which side of the box. You may or may not get your own side so be sure you can present information about all sides (careers) of your box!

Biology IH:

In addition to the above, I would like you to complete the following:

• On a separate piece of paper, please type 1-2 sentences providing the following information about the different specialties in medicine listed below.
• Describe what the following individuals do and how they contribute to society. Please resort to the Internet or Library for this information.
