Materials
The
library has approximately 18,000 books. Books are checked out for three weeks. Also,
reference books can be checked out overnight. The student's ID card is required
for checkout. Newspapers and magazines are available for reading in the library.
Computers
There
are 32 computers (PC) in the library for student use. There is also
a computer lab that is used for class instruction. All computers have filtered
Internet access. Chaparral also subscribes to several full-text online databases.
Software that is available to students includes Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher. A
scanner is available. Digital cameras and LCD projectors are also available for classroom use.

Library
Rules
The
library is a place for quiet study. Computers may be used for personal or academic
research. Games, e-mail purchases, social-networking, and chat rooms are not permitted under the District's
Acceptable Use Guidelines. Food and drink are not permitted in the library. A written pass, from a teacher,
is required during regular class periods.
