Welcome

to the ALC Program

Karen C. Riccobono – Classroom Teacher

Diana Rademaker – Instructional Assistant

The ALC Program is an academically based, self-contained program.  Students receive academics aligned with district and state standards in the areas of Reading, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science.  Instruction is at the students’ current functioning level.  Students are mainstreamed independently for exploratory classes.  The Teacher/ Student ratio is approximately 6:1.  The supportive services of a Health Aide/ Para Educator are available in order to meet the goals and objectives of IEP’s.

I hope you find the pages in my site useful in keeping up with our classroom activities.  Some of the pages will be updated on a regular basis, and some will be changed only rarely.   I will do my best to keep it current.

Alittle bit about me…  I have been teaching at Desert Canyon Middle School for the past 6 years.  During the past 15 years, I have taught 2 year-olds through 12th grade, multi-age, regular education and special education.  I have a BA in Psychology, a MS in Special Education and I am currently working on a MA in Curriculum and Instruction in ESL.  I hold teaching certifications in Elementary Education and Special Education.  I have endorsements in Learning Disabilities and Early Childhood Education.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and working with you toward providing a positive learning experience for your child.  J
